Champagne Jean-Philippe Torset: craft elegance in the Petite-Montagne de Reims <br data-end="3188" data-start="3185">Spread across the gentle hills of the Petite-Montagne de Reims, this 7.6 hectare vineyard belongs to Jean-Philippe Torset, a small but distinctive family-run Champagne producer, whose vineyards include the Premier Cru villages of Les Menoux, Sacy, Villedemange and a plot in Goux.
Their ancestors began growing grapes here as far back as 1697, and the Domaine "Torset-Guillemard" was officially established in 1958. Then, in 2008, the current owner, Jean-Philippe Torset, decided to build his own pressing and winery, restarting the domain as a récoltant-manipulant (RM).
The clay-limestone soil of the vineyards is carefully managed by hand with low yields, respecting the vitality of the soil and the individuality of the grapes, resulting in grapes that are perfectly ripe, have fresh acidity, and a mineral taste.
The wines are aged in stainless steel tanks and old tonneaux barrels in the cellars. After tirage, they are bottle-aged for 2 to 5 years, resulting in a champagne that embodies the complexity, soft bubbles, and clarity of the terroir.
The Domaine's Champagne comes in a variety of styles, including Brut, Extra Brut, Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs, and Vintage Cuvée, but they all share a delicate balance, beautiful acidity, a mineral structure, and a transparency that reflects the memory of the land. It can be said to be a true craft Champagne that combines history with modern sensibilities.
