Silvano Bolmida: precision in the Piedmontese hills

Nestled in the hills of the Langhe region of Piedmont, Silvano Bormida is a small, family-run winery known for unlocking the full potential of Nebbiolo. Its wines accurately reflect the character of its land, where power and delicacy coexist naturally.

The winery was founded in the 1970s, when founder Silvano cultivated the vineyards himself, passionately cultivating the ideal grapes. The vineyards, spread across slopes at an altitude of 250-400 meters, are exquisitely exposed to morning mist and daytime sunlight, achieving high levels of fruit ripening and fresh acidity. The soil, mainly clay and limestone, is rich in minerals, giving Nebbiolo depth and elegance.

At Silvano Bormida, winemaking is carried out using minimal techniques while respecting traditional methods: all work is done by hand and the wines are aged in both large and small barrels, allowing the delicate characteristics of the land to be fully expressed.

The Barolo and Barbera wines are characterized by the purity of their fruit and the refinement of their tannins, conveying the charm of the Langhe hills with every sip. Their simple yet refined winemaking demonstrates a deep respect for the land and winemaking.

The reason we chose this winery is because Silvano Bormida continues to create wines that quietly but surely express the character of Nebbiolo and its land.

Philosophy

Silvano Bolmida cultivates his vines with sustainable cultivation, minimal intervention and deep respect for the terroir: every bunch is hand-picked, and the wines are subjected to long maceration and careful barrel aging, allowing the character of the Langhe hills to be fully expressed in the wines.
