This wine is made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the family's vineyards in Monforte d'Alba, at an altitude of 450 meters. The vineyards face east, receiving ample morning sun, which helps to nurture the grapes' rich aroma and flavor.

The name "Frales" is a combination of the names of Silvano Bormida's children, Alessandra and Francesco, and reflects his personal feelings about this wine. Originally introduced as a blend in the early 2000s, since 2014 it has been made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, preserving its unique character.

Tasting Notes

Frales Nebbiolo displays an orange-garnet red color that deepens with age. The aroma is a gorgeous blend of ripe red fruit and violets, with subtle spices reminiscent of nutmeg, and nuances of vanilla and tobacco from oak aging. The palate is well-structured yet well-balanced, with soft tannins and refreshing acidity resulting in a long finish.

Food Pairing

This wine pairs particularly well with red meat, game, aged cheeses, mushrooms and truffle dishes, reflecting the rich culinary culture of the Piedmont region.
